Praise for The Devil's Mambo:
"Ex-homicide detective and Navy SEAL Nick Esperanza dives deep into New York's sexual underworld in this graphic, gritty first novel. The squeamish may wince as Esperanza does his desperate and dark dance down the wild side."
— Publisher's Weekly
"The language in the novel is frank…the story is well plotted and the characters, especially Esperanza, are well drawn. It packs the punch and entertaining edge of the pulps. Just be sure to keep it away from cozy fans. "
— Booklist
"Noir has a new name."
—Ken Bruen, author of The Guards and Priest
"Rodriguez holds no punches, doesn't flinch, and comes through with a knockout performance."
—Jason Starr, author of Twisted City and The Follower
"Rodriguez is working mean streets that haven't been worked before. He's the real thing. Dig this book."
—Robert Ward, author of Red Baker and Four Kinds of Rain
"This novel invents a new genre: sex noir. A gripping travel guide to the seedy underbelly of mankind's mind."
—Jimmy Palmiotti, author of Beautiful Killer and Painkiller Jane
"Better fortify yourself with a blast of the hard stuff, check your clip and keep your radar on sweep when you follow Nick Esperanza on his descent into the artfully portrayed dark and dank and seamy underbelly of the big, bad city in Jerry A. Rodriguez's The Devil's Mambo."
—Gary Phillips, author of Bangers and the Martha Chainey mysteries
"A wild ride on the wild side. Rodriguez pulls no punches."
—Rick Mofina, author of The Dying Hour
"Rodriguez's debut is a menagerie of sex, violence and the hard-boiled noir genre fans can't live without. The Devil's Mambo is a seductive read with a Spanglish accent."
—Kenji Jasper, author of Dark and The House On Childress Street
"Double-barreled, twelve-gauge pulp. You'll love it!"
—Mario Acevedo, author of The Nymphos of Rocky Flats and X-Rated Bloodsuckers

"The Devil's Mambo is about as edgy and gritty as it gets. It has plenty of plot twists and surprises in addition to a vivid glimpse of street life, glitzy and seamy."
